Cover Me

By Alison

I've been at a loss for words lately. Not a good state for a writer to be in, but the fact is, I'm still a little jet-lagged and I haven't been sleeping right and if I try to come out and say anything of substance, I'm afraid it may have to do with... I don't know... June assassinations or something...

The good news is, though, that the cover of my upcoming book HEARTLESS is up on amazon and barnesandnoble.com, which means I don't have to say jack. I can just show you. Check it out:

Pretty cool, huh? I have to say, one of the most exciting things about getting a book published -- at least for me -- is to see the cover for the first time. Somehow, it makes it finally seem real

Writers: What's your favorite part of the publishing process?

Comments

VERY cool cover.

My favorite part is getting my author copies and holding the book--MY BOOK--in my hand.

Great cover!

LOVE the cover, A!

My favorite part? I do like holding copies of my book, but I really like going through the last edit process knowing it'll finally become a book.

And contracts. I really like getting contracts for more work :)

Love the cover!

I like the writing. The first draft. When I have no idea what's going to happen. It's the whole discovery thing, getting to know characters, formulating the plot.

I like all the steps along the way (contract, finished book, edits done, cover), but it's when you hold the book in hand that you know it's real and it's done. Love that.

Ack, posted before I could say: that's a stunning cover!

Cashing the check.

(As I believe I remarked previously - that cover could've used some more cleavage!!!)

Thanks, guys! And thanks for reminding me of all the good parts of publishing (keep 'em coming!) I thought she should have a bigger rack too, Jeff. I mean, I am trying to sell books here.

I LOVE the cover, Alison. She doesn't have to be Venti.

My favorite part of publishing is holding the book for the first time, but right on the heels of that, seeing the cover for the first time. What a feeling. (As long as the cover is beautiful.)
